Grade 8 Personal Finance Lesson 124

Today I learned about scholarships. Again there are different scholarships. There’s academic, need-based, athletic and work-study scholarships. Then my teacher gave me this video on how to get a degree by making $11 a day. When applying to a scholarship try to play to your strengths. Basically apply to the scholarship which you have the highest chance of winning. Second is to write a killer essay. Many scholarship require at least one essay and the scholarship reviewers will rely heavily on the essay when choosing the scholarship winner. Also pay attention to the details.

Grade 8 Science Lesson 119

Today I learned about nucleic acids. Biological macromolecules which include deoxyribonucleic acid and ribonucleic acid. So what the heck is deoxyribonucleic acid? You might have heard of it’s more common name, DNA. And ribonucleic acid is RNA. DNA stores instructions for making proteins and RNA are copies of DNA instructions.Image result for cell diagram with DNA     The reason we need RNA is because the DNA is going to stay in the nucleus. So we need RNA to go out from the nucleus and combine with special “factories” to make proteins. Monomers called nucleotides are the building blocks of nucleic acids. Now nucleotides have three main parts, the nitrogenous base, pentose sugar and a phosphate group. Nucleotides are bonded together with H-bonds. Look at the DNA image the spokes of the DNA are nucleotides. There’s Adenine, Thymine, Guanine and Cytosine. Adenine will always H-bond with Thymine and Guanine will always H-bond with Cytosine.

Shop Assignment #6 Jigsaw Puzzle

Today I finished staining the back of the puzzle and doing half the cuts. The stain I got was a dark brown color, unfortunately the plywood wasn’t that good and you could really see the grain of the wood. Which also makes it so much easier to solve.
